- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 4 oz Swiss cheese, sliced
- 1 cup fresh mushrooms (cremini or button), sliced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Fresh parsley (optional), finely chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Clean and slice the mushrooms thickly.
- In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic powder and mix well.
- While mushrooms cook, heat another pan on medium-low and butter one side of each slice of sourdough. Toast until golden brown.
- On the unbuttered sides of two toasted slices, layer the sautéed mushrooms and top generously with Swiss cheese.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top and cook over low heat until the cheese melts and both sides are golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side.
