  • 1 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). In another bowl, mix flour, salt, cardamom, and melted butter. Add the yeast mixture and eggs; stir until combined.
  2. Knead the dough: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let it rise: Place in an oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth; let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Shape the buns: Punch down the dough, roll into a rectangle, spread with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar and cardamom mix, then roll tightly into a log. Slice into equal pieces.
  5. Bake: Arrange on parchment-lined baking sheet and let rest for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
