Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb flank steak
- 8 oz fresh cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup dry Marsala wine
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the steak by trimming excess fat and seasoning generously with salt and pepper. Let it rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from the skillet and let it rest.
- In the same skillet, sauté shallots and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Deglaze the pan with Marsala wine, scraping up any brown bits. Let it reduce for 3 minutes before adding beef broth. Simmer until thickened.
- Slice the rested steak against the grain and return it to the skillet to soak in the sauce for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or pasta and garnish with fresh parsley.
