Instructions
- Gather all ingredients on your countertop. If desired, cut hot dogs in half for smaller bites.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually stir in milk and eggs until smooth.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog, dip them in the batter allowing excess to drip off.
- Carefully place the coated hot dogs into the hot oil; fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pot.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels; serve immediately with mustard or ketchup.
