  • 1 cup dark brown sugar (220g)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (120ml)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (125g), sifted
  • 1 tsp baking powder (5g)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (1.5g)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (5ml)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in dark brown sugar and granulated sugar until dissolved.
  4. Allow to cool slightly, then whisk in eggs one at a time and add vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold into wet ingredients without overmixing.
  6. Add maple syrup and mix until just combined. Pour batter into the prepared dish.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are golden and center is set but soft. Let cool before slicing.
