  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook penne according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onions and green peppers; cook until soft and caramelized (5-7 minutes).
  3. Push veggies aside and add steak to the skillet. Sear until browned (3-4 minutes).
  4. Stir in minced garlic; cook for 30 seconds. Pour in heavy cream and scrape up browned bits from the pan.
  5. Gradually stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Season with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Add drained pasta to the skillet; toss to coat. If sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
