- 12 jumbo pasta shells
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (basil and oregano)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain gently.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and ground beef; cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato sauce, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with half of the mozzarella; season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Stuff each shell with the meat mixture followed by the ricotta mixture.
- Place stuffed shells in a baking dish lined with remaining tomato sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
