- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (plus more for brushing)
- 4 pineapple rings (fresh or canned)
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 4 lettuce leaves (romaine or butter)
- 1/2 red onion (sliced)
- 4 cheese slices (provolone or pepper jack)
- 4 burger buns
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef and half of the teriyaki sauce. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape into four patties about one inch thick, making a thumb indentation in the center of each.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill patties for approximately 5 minutes per side.
- In the last few minutes of grilling, add pineapple rings to the grill; cook for about 2 minutes per side until caramelized.
- Brush both sides of each patty with remaining teriyaki sauce before removing from heat.
- Assemble burgers by layering lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the beef patty, grilled pineapple, red onion slices, cheese, and top bun.
