- 4 soft sub rolls
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp softened butter (for garlic topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Form the mixture into small meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
- While the meatballs bake, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until heated through.
- Slice each sub roll open without cutting all the way through. Place several meatballs inside each roll and spoon marinara sauce over them.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Mix softened butter with minced garlic and spread over the outsides of each sub roll before serving.
