Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  3. Cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add eggnog to the mixture. Fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For frosting, beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and eggnog until smooth.
  8. Frost cooled cakes generously and serve.
