Cheesy Steak and Potato Bake is a comforting dish that combines tender steak, creamy potatoes, and gooey cheddar cheese.   • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, diced
  • 2 cups Yukon Gold or russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded sharp and mild cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 medium sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (plus additional for sautéing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  3. In a bowl, toss sliced potatoes with salt, pepper, paprika, and half of the cheddar cheese.
  4. Layer half of the seasoned potatoes in a large baking dish. Add half of the sautéed onions and garlic followed by diced steak. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. In a saucepan over low heat, whisk together milk and remaining butter until melted; pour over layered ingredients.
  6. Top with remaining cheddar cheese, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes of baking.
