Description

Caramelized Onion and Gruyere Dip is a creamy and savory appetizer that transforms any gathering into a memorable occasion.   • 2 large yellow or sweet onions
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, grated
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice onions thinly and sauté in olive oil over medium heat until soft (about 10 minutes).
  2. Increase heat and continue cooking until caramelized (15-20 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, thyme, and half of the Gruyere until smooth.
  4. Fold in caramelized onions and transfer mixture to an oven-safe dish. Top with remaining Gruyere cheese.
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving warm with dippers.
