- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

- 2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
- Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden. Cool completely before icing.
- For icing, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; tint with food coloring if desired and decorate cookies.
