Description

Easter Sugar Cookies are a delightful treat that combines fun decorating with delicious flavor, making them perfect for spring celebrations and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture until fully combined.
  4. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
  5. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  6. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden. Cool completely before icing.
  7. For icing, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth; tint with food coloring if desired and decorate cookies.
